Raise your hand if you struggle a bit with masculine cards… \u00a0is it just me?<\/p>\n

I love florals and elegant projects and sometimes I really have to stretch out of my comfort zone to come up with a card that I’d be be proud to give to my father or husband \u00a0– or even my 13 year old son!<\/p>\n

My latest class at Altenew Academy – “For the Guys”<\/a> – offers loads of suggestions for crafters like me who need some extra inspiration in this department. \u00a0As a homework assignment for this class, I created the following card.<\/p>\n

I used graphic triangle stamps from the Trigonometry Stamp Set<\/a>\u00a0by Altenew to create a stripe across the card. \u00a0I also chose a funky modern palette of orange, navy, pool and olive tones.<\/p>\n

For my sentiment, I incorporated some cool typography with mixed fonts and bold black and white. \u00a0I found some alpha dies from my stash and stacked four layers of black die cuts to form a dimensional “you”.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_5582.jpg\"Then I added black cardstock strips to either side and white heat embossed the rest of the sentiment. \u00a0Of course, having a “dude” stamp in my stash was a huge bonus for this teen-friendly card!<\/p>\n

So the final card reads “Dude. \u00a0You ROCK!”… which my son will love. \u00a0I finished it off with a few thin strips of black cardstock at the top and bottom of the panel, a shiny black asterisk embellishment and some black enamel dots (all from my stash).<\/p>\n

This was certainly a fun challenge for me but I am really happy with how it turned out. \u00a0I hope this inspires you to make a fun graphic project for the men (or boys) in your life too!<\/p>\n
