Hi friends! \u00a0I’m back today with another card for my Altenew Educator Certification Program. \u00a0Today’s project incorporates lessons from the Irresistible Inking Techniques class.<\/p>\n

I kicked off the design with a cool ink blended background. \u00a0I LOVE how clever this Cube Builder stencil<\/a> is – it creates such an awesome 3D effect! \u00a0I started by inking gently through the stencil with a light gray ink onto white cardstock. \u00a0I made the ink more intense at the bottom of the panel and much paler at the top. \u00a0Then I flipped the stencil over and inked it from the other side with a darker charcoal gray… still creating an ombre \u00a0gradient from bottom to top.<\/p>\n

I love the neutral but very eye-catching background this creates!<\/p>\n

Now to create the focal point! I stamped these pretty flowers from the Extra Special Stamp Set<\/a> from Altenew. \u00a0I used Versafine onyx black ink<\/a> for the outline, gorgeous purples and pinks from the Rose Petal Mini Cube<\/a> ink set, and bright greens from the Tropical Forest Mini Cube<\/a> ink set.<\/p>\n

Once I had stamped all my layers, I restamped the black outline with my MISTI tool<\/a> and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it extra shine. I also added highlights and centers to the flowers using a white gel pen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I fussy cut my completed image leaving a white border all around. \u00a0 I trimmed down the background panel and stamped my sentiment “sister” from the same stamp set. \u00a0I wanted to include a sub sentiment as well, so I stamped that in VersaMark ink<\/a> on a thin strip of black cardstock and white heat embossed it.<\/p>\n

To assemble my card, I popped up my floral image and sentiment strip with dimensional adhesive on my background panel. \u00a0Then I used fun foam behind the entire panel and adhered that to a top folding A2 card base. \u00a0I finished the card off by stamping “Happy Mother’s Day” on the inside and glueing a few clear sequins on the front for some extra bling.<\/p>\n
