Hello and welcome back to my blog!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You know that I LOVE to get inky in my craft room (hence my blog name! LOL) but sometimes it is fun to skip the ink and other mediums and work entirely with paper. Today’s project has absolutely zero stamping or coloring – it is all die cuts and paper which is a fun change!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Craft-A-Flower series from Altenew is a great starting point for this type of card because it is all about paper piecing and layering cardstocks to create gorgeous detailed florals. Take a look at the beautiful Buttercup flower that is featured in this month’s Craft-a-Flower release<\/a> – isn’t it so pretty!? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I looked up Buttercups online for inspiration and all the photos showed buttery yellow blooms, as the name suggests. Of course you could make this any color you like, but I chose to follow the inspiration photos and use soft shades of cream and yellow cardstocks from my stash for my layered Buttercups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the guide on the packaging, I easily assembled the blooms to create a few flowers and buds. I curled and popped up the forward most petal on each bloom for extra dimension. Then I die cut the leaf clusters from two different shades of green cardstock and arranged them around my blooms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For my background I used the Gradient Stripes cover die cut from dark gray cardstock and layered it over lighter gray panel for a tone on tone background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted a simple sentiment that did not add too much contrast so I chose the Fancy Hello die and cut it from white cardstock. I layered it three times for some bulk and adhered it right over my dimensional flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To tie in the white from the sentiment, I added some white ink splatters over the entire card (ok, so I guess I did use a teeeeensy bit of ink on this card) and it added just the right soft organic feel to balance out the linear background. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
