Here are two sweet valentine projects I made with my girls this year. Handmade sentiments and sweet treats for their classmates.<\/p>\n\n

Project #1: So glad you’re in my School!<\/p>\n\n

For my youngest, who is in Kindergarten, I thought it would be easiest to stamp something simple for her and let her do the coloring. I have a great Valentine stamp set from Stampin Up! called “Hey Valentine”. Unfortunately, it is no longer available, however, it would be really easy to re-create this design with any fish-theme stamp set such as BEST FISHES<\/a> or FISH TALES<\/a> and you could type or handwrite the message.<\/p>\n\n

The one I used is the fish image from this set:<\/p>\n\n

For mass production (she needs about 25 of these), I cut 3X4″ squares of white paper and lined up the stamp in my Misti. I used black Hero Arts ink to stamp each one.<\/p>\n\n

Now they are all ready for her to color in with colored pencils and sign her name (just a few at a time because she runs out of steam after only a couple! LOL) The plan is to staple this Valentine to a baggie full of red Swedish Fish candies for each of her classmates. You could also use Goldfish Crackers!<\/p>\n\n

Project #2: Taste the Rainbow!<\/p>\n\n

My older daughter, who is in 5th grade, wanted something a little less cutesy (she is “so over it”). We opted for a more graphic, fun design to go along with her favorite candy: skittles!<\/p>\n\n

Since my 10 year old can do much more of the work herself, her project had a few more steps. First, she used this FRAMES<\/a> die from Simon Says Stamp to cut out plenty of white label-shaped tags.<\/p>\n\n

Then we lined them all up on this grid mat so that she could do some assembly line stamping. She used temporary tape runner on the back to keep them all lined up in place and the grid lines helped her get the stamping straight. She used a row of tiny hearts from an older stamp set in rainbow colors to create 6 staggered rows, but you could use any heart stamp for this!<\/p>\n\n

Below the lines of colored hearts, she stamped a simple “Happy Valentines Day” message in Hero Arts black ink. She combined sentiments from HAPPY by Simon Says Stamp<\/a> and MARK YOUR CALENDAR by Taylored Expressions<\/a>, but you could use any valentine sentiment stamps for this!<\/p>\n\n

So the final tags look like this – SO CUTE!!<\/p>\n\n

She signed her name to these and we will staple each one to a bag of skittles for each of her classmates. This fun and simple project took us one afternoon to complete and it was a great way to spend some crafty time together on a no-schoool snow day!<\/p>\n\n
