Hi friends!
I am excited to be celebrating with Altenew as they release their amazing Stand Alone Dies for April. My project is part of a Blog Hop so there is a ton of wonderful inspiration to showcase the gorgeous products!
If you are following along, you should have arrived here from Terri Koszler’s blog. You can also start back at the beginning of the hop and see the full list of participants by clicking here and while you are on the Altenew site you can check out the entire Stand-alone Die release.
Bold Diagonal Birthday card
So let’s take a look at my card for the hop. I chose to work with the new Whimsical Garden die set and the Slim Sentiments Die set to get a bold and bright look.
VIDEO: If you prefer to watch a video of the creation of this card, you can check out the link below or watch over on YouTube. Otherwise I offer step by step instructions throughout this post.
I die cut the florals from Whimsical Garden with white cardstock, then inked the solid layers and left the detailed top layer white. Layering the two together creates a gorgeous floral cluster with bold color and and intricate outline.
I arranged these against a background of gold cardstock and trimmed the whole thing on a diagonal. Along the diagonal edge I filled the rest of the card front with black cardstock. I cut the sentiment out of the same gold cardstock using the Slim Sentiment die and aligned it over the black cardstock along the diagonal edge.
Using alcohol markers, I colored some rhinestones with coordinating colors and sprinkled them around the card front.
I’m loving these jewel tones with the gold accent! I hope you enjoyed this card project – leave me a comment and let me know if you like to work with stand alone dies or if you are more comfortable die cutting a stamped image.
