In anticipation of this special day, I created some cards for the moms in my life that mean so much to me. I’m sharing one of those cards here today (spoiler alert for my awesome MIL):

This sweet card features the Mega Happy die paired with the Mega Greetings 2 stamp set. I set up the stamp in my Misti and inked it with Peony, Bubble Gum and Citrine inks from The Stamp Market to get an ombre effect on the stamp. It helps to use a little sponge dauber where the inks overlap to blend out any harsh lines.

After stamping this, I placed the Penny Black Dots in Space background stamp into the base of my Misti, image side up, and inked the polka dots in a similar ombre fashion. I then kissed the “happy” stamp down onto the dotted background stamp to transfer the inked dots, and then I placed my cardstock back in the Misti and stamped the happy again to get the dotted detail.

I added a white on black embossed sentiment strip from an older set from my stash and then got to work on the layout.

I wanted to add interest in the background that didn’t compete with my bold sentiment. To do this, I started by dry embossing my A2 card front with an old embossing folder in my stash that no longer has a label so I’m sorry I can’t tell you where it came from – LOL!

Next I cut several silhouette dies using the Field Flowers Die set from The Stamp Market. This set is intended to pair with the Field Flowers stamp set, but I just used the white silhouettes and lightly inked them with Leafy and Greenery Inks.

I added dimension to my “happy” die cut by glueing 3 layers behind it and then adhered it to a wide strip of cardstock that I cut to fit diagonally across the cardfront. I popped up this diagonal panel with foam tape and then tucked the bits of greenery behind it to frame out the sentiment. A few enamel dots on some of the die cut sprigs were the finishing touch. Voila!

I hope you enjoyed this bright cheerful Mother’s Day card idea – you could easily adapt this design using any alphas and foliage dies you have on hand!

Thanks for stopping by – have a great Mother’s Day!!

xo,
