Leaf Wreath card *with a twist

Hello friends!

I’m back today with another fun card for my Altenew Educator Level 2 course called “With a Twist”.

I created a pretty simple rainbow wreath but I added a few twists to make the card more interesting and fun.

To stamp the simple wreath, I chose a single leaf stamp from the Blooming Bouquet stamp set and stamped it repeatedly on a card panel using the wreath builder stencil from Gina K designs and my MISTI. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink so I could color with my alcohol markers.

I colored the leaves very simply in solid colors with my alcohol markers to create a rainbow of color around my wreath.

For my special *TWIST*, I cut the paper in from each side with my trimmer, running the blade right up to the stamped image and then stopping… continuing the cut on the interior of the wreath and again on the opposite side. Then I fussy cut around the outside and the inside portion of the wreath that stuck out from my cut line. This gave the illusion that almost half of my wreath was hanging off the page.

To make the rest of the white card more interesting I added score lines every 1/4″ to give a subtle horizontal stripe (skipping over the stamped image).

For my sentiment, I die cut the fancy hello die several times from black cardstock and then once from gold cardstock. I stacked the word dies together to make them sturdier and give some dimension.

I used liquid glue to adhere the sentiment so it would float across the center of the wreath. I created a top folding A2 card from black cardstock and cut off part of the front of the card so that it lined up perfectly with my white panel and I glued the white panel to the front as shown.

The final step was to add another white panel to the inside of the card, which gives the illusion of a full white panel on the front when the card is closed (and also gives a place to write a personal message inside).

A few gold sequins and the card is ready to send! I hope you can see from the photos how cool it is to see through the wreath and sentiment as you open the card!
