#TBT – Throwback to Stamping 101

Happy Thursday!

For my first Thursday post, I wanted to throw it back to some content I published on my YouTube Channel almost a year ago: my Stamping 101 video.  I got a really great response from this video thought it was a good resource to mention here as well.

I created this video for beginner stampers with planners in mind.  So if that’s you, be sure to tune in and check it out!

Some take-home points from this video:

  • season new stamps when you first take them out of the package
  • choosing the right acrylic blocks
  • basic ink types: pigment vs chalk vs dye vs hybrid
  • your stamping surface makes a big difference
  • stamping motion
  • suggestions for cleaning clear stamps
  • correcting mistakes – we all make ’em!

My head is bursting with ideas for intermediate and advanced stamping techniques that can be applied in your planners, so if that interests you, subscribe to my blog and/or YouTube channel and stay tuned… I am planning a series of short video tutorials for more advances techniques to try!  (Of course, I’d love suggestions for topics to include – so if you have something you’d like me to include, please comment below!)

Have a great Thursday and thanks for stopping by!

  1. FANTASTIC – very informative. The voice on the instructor is mellow and kind and tells me she must be as beautiful as her voice sounds !!!

  2. I’m very excited to see new youtube videos. I would love to see some tips on lettering I am dying to try it. I just ordered the brush pens you recommend. Also have you seen the new stamping tool at Michaels it is like a generic Misti. Tim holtz has one the is coming out this month. You probably already knew that, but I would love to see you do a video on it with your planner! ???

    1. Ooh – I love that idea! I will add “using stamp positions” to my intermediate stamping series… I have the misti and other positioning tools/tricks I could cover. thanks Caressa! However, I’m really not qualified to give lettering tips – I am total newbie myself!!
Glad you enjoy the videos – just filmed one today and hope to have it edited and published soon!
